Privacy policy
This covers the Strategy4Kids apps for children, the Strategy Mind app for adults, and this website. It is written to be read, and it describes what the software does today. Last reviewed 2026-10-25.
Children
A child does not need an account, an email address or a real name. The app creates an anonymous player on the device, with a nickname and an avatar the child picks. There are no ads, no chat, and no tracking or advertising SDKs in the apps or on this site.
A parent can optionally create a parent account to link children, set the coach level and set a daily screen-time limit. The parent area is the only place an email address is collected for a child's use. Because the apps are aimed at children, we ask for a parent's involvement before anything beyond the anonymous player is stored.
What we store
- Players: a nickname, an avatar, and an anonymous device token.
- Games: each game's moves, result, clock and rating, so that games can resume and ratings work.
- Lessons: which lessons were completed and the best grade.
- Parent accounts: email address, a hashed password (we never store the password itself), hashed sign-in session tokens, and the children's nicknames, coach level and screen-time limit.
- Support requests: what a signed-in parent writes in the "Contact support" form, with the account email.
- Newsletter and waitlist: the email address (and optional name) typed into those forms on this site.
- On the device: settings such as theme, language and game options are kept in the app's local storage and never leave the device.
Who else receives data
- The AI coach. To write a hint, the board position and the list of moves played so far (with engine suggestions) are sent to an AI model provider (Anthropic). No name, email, device token or account detail is sent. Hints are cached by position.
- Spoken coach voice. The sentence to be read aloud is sent to our own text-to-speech service and the resulting audio is stored in our object storage.
- Support. A support request is passed to our support desk system so we can answer it.
- Email. Newsletter and waitlist email goes through our email service.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
Adults (Strategy Mind)
The adult app is a separate deployment with its own database. Nothing is shared with the children's data. It has no parent or support area, and it stores players and games in the same way as above.
Your choices
A parent can ask to see, correct or delete their account and their children's data, including every game, by writing to us from the account email. We delete on request. Deleting the app removes the data on the device; to remove the server copy, ask us.
